Long Version

Graphics : That is the key feature they aimed for in this title, and it's fair and reasonable to say that it worked really, really well for them. The game looks just breathtaking! The level design is real simple, yet still crowded and full in it's own trend (in a good way of course) The character design is just perfect. I was amazed by that actually, they look so good. Overall I was very much satisfied in terms of world graphics, Racoon city looks really good. The game itself storywise is, with some exceptions, pretty much the same as the generic Resident Evil 2 we all loved as a kid but the graphics, man they are just an awesome step up in this. (We will come back to story in a second) They offer us a great Resident Evil 2 remake with really good graphics you can't get enough of and it's just too much fun to play it this way. If you loved the original Resident Evil 2, this will make your life joyful, the graphics are THAT good. As a result, graphics, of course, passes ✔

Gameplay : The new mechanics they installed in this is fairly great. The simplified inventory offers the perfect inventory management for you. It's pretty easy to navigate through menus, which is a really great thing if you're like me, the kind of player who likes to read every single thing they collect. Roaming through the Racoon City is really simple, since the combat is just super easy. Just run, run and run, well and sometimes shoot. Joke aside, the game offers a decent combat, in a beginner friendly manner. Even your fights with the main boss, Nemesis, are actually pretty easy as long as you understand his movement and attacks.
What I'm saying is, gameplay in RE2 is the best single thing I've seen all year in gaming. Amazing. Pass, pass, pass! ✔

Open World : Re2 remake offers a fair amount of land for you to discover and rewards you for doing so. From weapon mods to herbs, medicine to tools, the game offers you a lot, just for exploring the magnificent Racoon City, and most importantly the magical police station. Yes, your map is limited and the world is not "open" per se, but you're totally free to create your own route and explore on your own and that's just enough in a horror game if you ask me. Still, for the integrity of this review, I will not be adding this section to my verdict. Open world, not included ❓

Sound : Outstanding. Best sound in gaming this year, no questions asked for me. Just listen the originals, just amazing. Pass, of course pass ✔

Replayibility/Story : I might sound like a fanboy here, but this is also a "great" section. The game has 2 main stories, for your 2 main characters. Both Claire and Leon stories are actually pretty similar in terms of ongoing action, you basically shoot zombies regardless of the story you're playing. But, they also are really different in the same time. The Claire A story is great on it's own, and full of joy, still in the end, game doesn't just end there, it gives you a half ending and makes you wanna play the other story even if it's just to kill that guy again and reach the actual ending. Plus, the game offers an amazing endgame points system, which simply rewards you for finishing it many times. You can get skins, you can get unlimited ammo, an infinite rocket launcher that basically lets you destroy Mr X and make fun of the little fella. Anyways, if I wasn't clear, yes, it's a pass. ✔

In the end our results will look like this :
Graphics : ✔
Gameplay : ✔
Open World : ❓
Sound : ✔
Replayibility/Story : ✔

Verdict
Resident Evil 2 remake is everything we loved in the original, and way, way more. This is the poster game for "how to make a remake" issue of our backlog. Considering, this actually one of the best remakes I've got my hands on.
