STREETS OF ROGUE Game Review
When the mayor becomes corrupted, the town evolves into a place for all types of bad stuff. Drug dealers, abductors, slave sellers, and much more! Your task, is to be a hero in this fight in these streets of chaos. Which side you'll take? That's up to you. In Streets Of Rogue, as long as you survive and get out of the plums, everything seems OK. So try with destroying all the city perhaps?
The problem is, the game, even though it seems the single player is the way to go, is actually rather boring after some time in single player, since it's mostly repetitive. The levels are seed-based and generate different in your each playthrough yes, but the missions are the same, the changing factor is just the shapes and amount of enemies and security system elements. However, if you're searching for a game to play with your friends, Streets Of Rogue will give you the ride of your year! The game offers so much fun if you're playing with friends, and tension is high there. It's more of a challange in multiplayer as well. Since you are just trying to keep one person alive in singleplayer, food is actually not that big of a deal. In multiplayer however, your friends will just die out of nowhere, and you'll need to make a good management for your food reserve. Keep everyone alive, because if there's no one alive, game is over. In the end, it's a roguelike.
I really loved the attempt to mix different genres, and create something quite nice out of it. We do need that kind of developers in the industry, and we're ready to pay for it! Well, not too much please. Anyways, speaking of payments, the game doesn't have micro transactions, except for the dlcs, that'll give you character packs. That alone makes it even more challenging and even more fun! Graphics are pixel based in this roguelike, and they just look nice. Soundtracks are amazing, they make the game playable for long hours, since these games will tire you out with "When you die, you die" mechanics. Speaking of mechanics, Streets Of Rogue has a nice way of dealing in game economy, it keeps you playing more and more to unlock that new trait, or that new item. Characters are unlockable by getting missions done, and missons are actually not that hard, you just need time to get it right. The UI is simple, and nothing fancy. I must say, it is just fine, more than fine.
Long story short, Streets Of Rogue is a great mixture of genres. For the ones who like creating, or living in chaos, this roguelike is the way to go! Much better with a friend or two.
